Faulty initial rendering

On occasions, when I open a model, I cannot see its rendered image (only the global axes are shown). What is wrong?
This is a known problem, that should have been solved already for the vast majority of cases. Whenever this happens, in any case, just click on the rendering window and start zooming-in until the model becomes visible.
