Can it be that you are trying to run the very large IDA file (>2GB)?
In other words, does the program run the smaller files, or does it have the same behaviour in all the files?

It starts displaying the "integer overflow" on the start with no file being opened. This is what bothers me the most.

However I try to run simple models, even cantilevers but it fails to show any results. I have even tried some simple models which I am able to run and see their results on Seismostruct on my other computer (Windows 7) but they all fail on the Vista version.

Might there be some problem with using the academic license on two computers? I've even tried uninstalling, cleaning folders from Appdata and Program files and cleaning registry entries and reinstalling Seismostruct but I always get the same problem. Even when I use the 30-day trial, I still get the overflow error from the start.

Can it be the fact that the model and the results file are very big?
Can you send your model and your registration details to support@seismosoft.com?
