modeling hysteretic response for link elements

Post by rashid »

Dear All,
I have a 2 bay 2 story RC frame. I have modeled link elements at the end of beams and at the bottom of base columns and intend to get hysteretic response for the link elements under cyclic pushover analysis. The link elements work perfectly for the columns and i get the required hysteretic curves but for beams the hysteretic response is completely unresponsive and i dont get any response for the Link Hysteresis of beams.
Any idea about what might be possibly wrong?

Hi rashid,

It is not easy to guess what could not be working in your model, since the possibilities are numerous (e.g. errors in nodal connections, inadequate local axes assignment, inappropriate load path, etc).

Maybe the Support team of Seismosoft will manage to find the time to pay a look at your model if you send it to them?

Thank you for your kind response. I have sent you my model at info@seismosoft.com.
Additionally, I want you to recommend me the following:
1. A hysteretic response curve in seismostruct that can model pinching in RC members (or for RC beam-column Joints).
2. A tri-linear response curve with a degrading branch.

Dear rashid,

I am not part of Seismosoft's Support team, whose email address is, btw, support@seismosoft.com.

For what concerns your questions:
1. you could perhaps try the Takeda hysteretic model, not?
2. the trilinear response in SeismoStruct does not feature a degrading branch.
