Dear all
I modeled a series of 2d smrf frames and analyzed models under nearfield motions with forward directivity. So i like to record energy dissipated in selected element during earthquak to compare the results with ordinary motions. Please gie some guide.
it is good to say thank you all for your applicable comments and i see the future is belonging to seismostruct.thanks

This seems to be a hot topic in the forum. There are several sources of valuable information which will help here.

1. A forum search on "energy".

2. Some available references on the subject of seismic energy dissipation include the following:

“EVALUATING DISTRIBUTION OF SEISMIC ENERGY IN MULTISTORY FRAMES”, CHOU and UANG; 13th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering, Vancouver, B.C., Canada, August 1-6, 2004.

“Evaluation of seismic energy in structures.” Uang and Bertero, Earthquake Engineering & Structural Dynamics, 1990, 19(1), 77-90.

“Relevance of Absolute and Relative Energy Content in Seismic Evaluation of Structures”, Erol Kalkan and Sashi K. Kunnath, Advances in Structural Engineering Vol. 11 No. 1 2008.

I hope these suggestions will prove fruitful n_siahpolo.
