Spectral acceleration

Hell there ,
I am new to seismosoft and also just started studying earthquake engineering. So I am using seismosoft as learning tool for studying earthquake engineering.

I would be greatly obliged to know if someone could help me with following questions

1) Is it a practice that 5 % damping is always the case ? while reading few papers I saw this

2) where to find the spectral acceleration ? is it located in "Fourier and power spectra " tab or "Elastic/ inelastic response spectra" tab

Thanks

Dear Atul Patil,

We are happy to hear that you are using Seismosoft tools in your effort to learn about earthquake engineering.

Having said the above, we do prefer to avoid general questions on earthquake engineering issues to be submitted to this Forum, both with a view to keep the latter focused on providing technical assistance in the use of the software, but also because there are already many other fora where such general discussions can take place (see e.g. the LinkedIn ASCE/EERI/etc groups), together with text books, journal papers, research reports and, obviously taught courses.

Kind regards,

Seismosoft Support

PS: yes, spectral acceleration typically refers to the values found in response spectra, rather than Fourier/Power spectra.
