Yes, sure, but, we insist, there is not necessarily such a thing as THE one modelling approach that is correct to ALL cases.

Whilst in some cases the use of truss elements may be correct, in other cases the employment of rigid elements may the right approach. And, perhaps in the majority of such cases, it won't really matter much, and the results will be awfully similar either way.

It really must be up to the user to decide which modelling assumption is the correct one for the structure that he/she is analysing at a given moment in time, within a certain context.

So, coming back to your own analyses; have you tried modelling your structure with the two different assumptions that are puzzling you? If yes, were the results any different? If yes, which of the two sets of results do you think make more sense? And which ones do compare better with the hand calculations that you have carried out (for checking the model)?
