Dear SeismoSoft and salar,

It does appear to me that there is a problem in the conversion of bas sizes when units are changed in SeismoStruct. I'll explain.

salar has sent me a file which serves to compute the moment-curvature properties of a 400mm x 400 mm column with 8 25mm (#8) bars.

When I change units to English and open the reinforcement dialogue for the section, the bars have become #10 bars, whereas they should have become #8 bars.

I suspect that there may be an issue with metric bar properties. I believe that the model of salar is using English #10 bars when he specifies metric 25mm bars.

salar, I wonder if you have been going back and forth between units in your model. If so, this could be the problem. If not, we'll keep looking for it.

I think at a minimum, this should be a warning to encourage users to always check their reinforcement patterns once units are changed in a SeismoStruct model.

Best regards,

huffte.

Dear Tim and Salar,

Thank you for your input. Indeed, there is an error in the reinforcement conversion in versions 6.0 and 6.5, corresponding 25mm and #10 rebar diameters (both from SI to Imperial and Imperial to SI).
This error is already fixed in v7, corresponding 25mm diameters to #8 rebars.

How to get the moment curvature from the pushover analysis?

Dear nikhilnbr,

If you carry out a search on this Forum for the term "moment curvature" you should find plenty of posts on this matter.
