cumulative damage

Post by good for nothing »

Dear SeismoSoft,
I am currently using this software to perform dynamic time history analysis on structures and study cumulative damage. May I ask how to retain the previous analysis results as the starting state for the next analysis? Or can we simply say that one seismic wave is cycled four times as one document and inputted into the structure?
Looking forward to your reply. Thank you very much

In SeismoStruct it is not possible to retain the results from a previous analysis and use them as input in a new analysis.

I think it is possible if you just expand your txt (which has time and acceleration) with values of the other earthquake record but be careful to change the time at the txt of the 2nd event.

Indeed, this can be done. What I meant was that it is not possible to start a new analysis retaining the stress-strain condition of the members from a previous analysis
In the valid approach that you mentioned, what users are usually doing is to input a very large record with several recordings one after the other. Make sure to have a large space with zero loading between the consecutive records, in order to allow for the model to rest.
