Hello seismostruct support team,

I am currently modelling a self-centering brace using the SCB link element.
In the flag-shaped part of the hysteretic response, is it possible to have a widened/ broad restoring force in the post-yielding side compared to the restoring force on the initial stiffness side?

Hello jumana,
I am not sure what you mean with your request. You can check the hysteretic behavior of the material model in the Materials module, where the hysteretic curve is immediately shown based on the selected parameters by the user.

When using the SCB link element, we can specify both the initial stiffness and the post-yield stiffness.
However, is it possible to specify the unloading stiffness?
because I need to simulate the behavior of a friction spring with different loading and unloading stiffness.
Any input, please.

No, unfortunately it is not possible to employ a different unloading stiffness.

can we develop such a hysteretic response specifying different loading and unloading stiffness using any other link element in the Seismostruct repository?
please guide.

Unfortunately, this is not possible with the materials that are available in SeismoStruct's library

Is it possible to add a new material model in the new seismostruct for friction springs with specifying parameters of loading stiffness and unloading stiffness? it will be more useful for simulating behaviour of friction springs.

We have an external application, called SeismoDev.exe, which we use to develop new hysteretic models. You can request it from our support team from: support@seismosoft.com. Users develop their models in SeismoDev and, if the models are accurate and numerically stable, Seismosoft's Support team inserts them to SeismoStruct.
