Need for more decimal places while defining PGA for target response spectrum and domains of matching

Post by rhtcr7 »

The problem with the software is that the input precision for the PGA values is limited to 3 decimal places which may not always serve the purpose. The software needs to take 5 decimal places as input so that it's easier to scale the GM records to a desired value. Also, since this software is specifically made to match GMs to target response spectra, I feel that the option to match in the time domain should also be provided. At times, the matching in time domain is much better fitted than those done in the frequency domain.

Hello rhtcr7,
There is no limit in the number of decimal points in the records that are input in the program. Regarding the output, the decimal points can be set from the Program Settings>General tab.

Just a note of clarification, rhtcr7. SeismoMatch does indeed incorporate spectral matching in the time domain. Wavelets are added directly to the input accelerogram. There is no manipulation of the Fourier spectrum in SeismoMatch.

SeismoArtif, on the other hand, incorporates spectral matching in the frequency domain. The manipulation and modification occurs on the Fourier spectrum of the input accelerogram. The altered Fourier spectrum is then converted backwards to a new, modified accelerogram.

Thanks for the correction, Tim! We somehow managed to misread the question.
