Hi I’m trying to run an IDA analysis to evaluate seismic behavior of my steel structure with ebf braced frames, and I need story responses such as story accelerations, story drifts and residual drifts. My model has short links which I have used infrmDB for modeling them but since the software uses fiber model how can I account for link nonlinearities which happen duo to shear deformations? I’ve seen researches have used two springs at each end of the link to model shear yielding but the problem is that these springs have a consistent bi linear behavior and their hysteretic loops don’t degrade after earthquake subsequent cycles. So how can I get the most accurate and realistic modeling of ebf short links with seismostruct.
I would really appreciate any help to improve this situation.
Best regards.

Could you not specify a Takeda or simplified Takeda link element for the shear degree of freedom? It shouldn't require a bi-linear link necessarily.

You could also use the infrmDBPH element with appropriate changes in the response curve parameters.
Once the infrmDBPH element class is selected, you could use the Calculate Hinge Properties dialog box to get the first calculation for the parameters and then change them accordingly, in order to account for the shear deformations.
However, are you sure that these shear deformations are not negligible? (If they are you could use a fibre frame element type)
