θy and θu for members

Post by sanya greek »

Hello!

After the Pushover analysis, where in the Code-Based Capacity checks i put Chord_Rotation_capacity with 1.Life_safety(B) 2.Immediate Occupancy(A)
3.Collapse Prevention(C), i took the results in Post-Processor-->Code-based Checks.

For example, i select in Code-Based Check Name --> Collapse Prevention. After i see

In this case what does capacity mean? Its θu (ultimate)?

In this case what does capacity mean? Its θy (yield)?

I want to find θy and θu of each member, like here.

where F is M, and δ is θ.

Thank you very much!

The theta,u and theta.y capacities are automatically calculated by the program. Refer to the help system or the manual to read the exact expressions. In fibre modelling, which is the standard in SeismoStruct, the Force vs. deformation curve is automatically derived by the program, based on the stress-strain diagrams of the section materials. If you want to use a multi-linear moment-rotation diagram like the one above, you may use SeismoStruct's displacement based plastic-hinge infrmDBPH element with appropriate Fy, delta_y and delta_u values.
