Regarding permanent load

Post by mangesh30 »

In RC building I want to give the transferred load from slab to beam then should I go through either lumped mass system or elemental load system? Which one should I prefer? Next Q. self wt of all structural member is considered by software itself or we have to give separately? Is there any need to create slab element if we distribute the load from slab to beam ? Kindly clear the doubts reagrding slab modelling and distribution of loads as well as self wt of structures
THANKS IN ADVANCE

Dear mangesh30,

If you model the RC Building through the Building Modeller Facility, then the slab's permanent and live loads are automatically distributed to the supporting Beams as additional mass in the corresponding element classes. It is up to you to select the way to model the slab's loads, but you should also make the proper selection in the 'Gravity and Mass' tab of the Project Settings. The program's default option is to define mass from the Frame Elements, based on the specific weight of their materials and their section's additional mass, as well as the Mass Elements (lmass and dmass), but this is something that you may modify from the 'Gravity and Mass' tab of the Project Settings. Finally, the slabs are modelled in SeismoStruct as Rigid Diaphragms in order to take into account their Diaphragmatic behaviour.

This cannot be done in the current version of SeismoStruct through the Building Modeller.
Unfortunately, you need to input the mass from the SeismoStruct main window.
