Suspicious.Cloud warning

Post by pmiranda »

I just installed new version 6.5 on a Windows 7, 64bit machine. I used Norton Antivirus. The main executable file "seismostruct.exe" keeps getting quarantined by my Antivirus due to the alleged presence of the high risk virus "Suspicious.Cloud", so I can't run the program.

I can, of course, set an exclusion so as to allow the file in question to be restored. However, I would like to check if anyone else is getting this, so as to be sure that it is a FALSE threat on the "seismostruct.exe" file.

Thanks!

I am , in fact, getting the same behavior by my Anti-virus software after installing SeismoStruct 6.5 on a Windows7 machine. Not really sure what to do about it yet.

Yes, we can confirm that this a known false threat (aka "false positive"), which can be by-passed by setting an 'exception', as noted by Pio Miranda.

If you carry out a web search on this matter, you will realise that this sort of problems occur with many other software - see e.g.:

We are now planning to acquire a so-called 'digital license' that will hopefully help us in avoiding a repetition of this sort of issues in the future (though, as you can read in one of the posts above (that related to WinZip), not even in such cases are problems completely avoided).

We apologise for these problems (even if they are not really caused by us), and thank all our users for their unfailing trust in our products.

Thank you!

I set up an exclusion and restored the file from the quarantined folder. Everything is now working fine.
