Best way to model different materials

Hello! :)

I am a Civil Engineering Student currently working on my thesis which is related to generating fragility curves for Gabaldon type school buildings here in the Philippines.

I was in the process of modelling when I wondered what is the best way to model different materials? Some of the schools that I am modelling might have wooden members. Some might be made purely of reinforced concrete.

I have the following question:
1) Is wood material best modelled as el_mat, hyst_mat, or best modelled in some other way?

It depends on whether you want to model material inelasticity. If not (e.g. if you assume linear behaviour of the wooden beams and you concentrate inelasticity at the joints) the el_mat should be enough. If however you need to model the member inelasticity, then the hyst_mat material with appropriate parameters is suitable.
