Quadrilinear asymmetric curve - quad_asm Parameters?

Post by humam2104 »

I want to input this curve:

As a (Quadrilinear asymmetric curve - quad_asm), but I'm getting an error or divergence each time no matter what I did.
So I want to make sure that my parameters are correct, here are the parameters I'm using to simulate the graph:

The parameters are not explained in detail in the program, so more annotations on the graph in the Help menu would help

Dear humam2104,

Please check the units that you use, e.g. the default units in SeismoStruct is m and kN, hence the dy(+) should be 0.0035 and not 3.5. The same for the other required displacement values.
What kind of error do you get?

Well, DECREASING the number of steps helped me. Increasing them only made the analysis fail at an earlier point

Indeed, although it does not happen often, such behaviour has been observed in the past, it can happen.
