Just a follow up question, does the constitutive material models capture degradation in the hysteresis plot even if the the steel material is using elastic perfectly plastic hysteresis model which is the common assumption for steel bars?

Yes, for different reasons, including the stress-strain curve of concrete, the geometric nonlinearities, but also the stress strain curve of steel (in SeismoStruct there is the stl_mn steel material model that is capable of modelling the buckling of rebars under compression.

Thank you for the clarification, another question does the output generated capture the progression of response of concrete starting from cracking to crushing and similarly for steel not just buckling but also fracture?

Yes, this can be done with the introduction of performance criteria, or code-based checks in the corresponding tabs in the pre-processor
