time history

Postby AMRMASOUD » 19 Nov 2017, 17:00

How to loaded many real time history ground motions in seismostruct?
what is the best and worst case for simulation of nonlinear dynamic time history upon concrete building, in only X-direction or in X and Y directions or in X, Y, & Z directions?
THANKS

You can load many different curves in the "Time History Curves" tab. You could define all 3 directions - H1, H2, and Vertical - for several different record triplets there. Once you have done that, you can assign any such triplet as acceleration loads in the three directions in the "Applied Loads" tab.

A useful strategy might be to have different loading definitions for each triplet and save the same file under a different name for each triplet. You could then use the batch utility to perform the analyses and extract results for each separate triplet (file name).

As real recordings include three accelerograms - the most accurate loading definition is all 3 simultaneously - that is what happens in reality so that is the best modeling solution when in doubt. There are cases when a single direction suffices as an approximation to reality.

Best of luck.
