slave and master nodes restraints in rigid link

Post by Akash bhagat »

Dear concern,

I am a new user of the Seismostruct Software and trying to model an eccentrically loaded column. While modelling the eccentric load I created a node adjacent to the main element node which is behaving as a slave node and connected the nodes through a rigid link. Then in the restraints tab I am being asked to restrain the master and slave node but I am facing problem in restraining these nodes. Every time I restrain the concerned axes, an warning comes up.

Could you please help me understand which restraints to follow in the rigid link.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Can you specify the nature of the warning message, Akash. I have done similar things with rigid links and not had so much difficulty. Generally, the column node should be the master and the eccentric node should be the slave, it seems to me. And you could try all degrees-of-freedom in the constraint dialogue, examine the displaced shape, and judge whether you have captured the desired behavior.
