Re: How to model FRP layer under the beam
<t>Hi, <br/> <br/> We will obviously need to see the model, in order to be able to comment on the behaviour you have observed. <br/> <br/> You may also perhaps explore the possibility of adding a 'truss' element defined between two nodes that are 250 mm below the beam nodes, introducing then rigid l...

Re: Tie element
Hi,
Try using 'truss' elements coupled with 'link' elements that transmit tension forces only.

Re: How to model concentrated hinges
Yes, of course, you will need to calibrate the elastic element properties in order to render them "compatible" with the link elements.
In alternative, you may also consider using plastic-hinge specialised software, such as Ruaumoko, Drain, Idarc, etc.

Re: Masonry wall, static analysis
<t>Dear Maxime,<br/> <br/> We realise that this response comes with a very long delay and that you may have solved the matter by yourself. <br/> <br/> In any case, and also for the benefit of others who may be interested in the issue, we note that the behaviour that you observed (no apparent influen...

Re: How to model concentrated hinges
<t>Dear PhungNgocDung,<br/> <br/> We are not quite sure we understand the difficulties you seem to be experiencing, but we will give it a go, in any case, with an example:<br/> - define nodes A(0,0,0) and B(0,0,3)<br/> - define an elastic element going from node A to B<br/> - define node AA(0,0,0)<b...

Re: could not re-orthogonalise all Lanczos vectors
<t>This message means that the Lanczos algorithm, which currently serves as the eigenvalue engine of SesimoStruct, could not calculate all or some of the vibration modes of the structure. <br/> <br/> This behaviour may be observed in either (i) models with assemblage errors (e.g. unconnected nodes/e...

Re: Motion of a finely restrained Frame During DTA
<t>When subjected to earthquake action at its base, structures obviously do feature rigid body motion, in addition to relative deformation. <br/> <br/> Typically, such rigid body motion is of no interest for engineering applications, hence its plotting is redundant. <br/> <br/> In order to disable s...

Re: Divergence Error while applying con_frp material
<t>Glad to hear the analysis now works. <br/> <br/> We actually believe that loading the program's default settings has made all the difference (you had previously tried changing the tensile capacity to zero, and that did not solve your problems), and thus recommend it to all users. <br/> <br/> The ...
