Re: Concrete Jacket Theoritical Basis

Hi Z. Gronti I think a concrete jacket is more complex than it seems as compared to a plain concrete. It is normal in concrete jacket that the concrete strength of the jacket is much higher than the existing concrete core, in this case the concrete strength of the new jacketed section cannot be assu...

Re: Concrete Jacket Theoritical Basis

Dear Kirkaguel, The Code-based checks and the calculation of the required capacities are calculated according to the selected Code. You may check for the equations used in the User Manual and Help System of the programs. Thank you for the reply Z. Gronti, a follow up question though if we use ASCE ...

Concrete Jacket Theoritical Basis

Good Day technical support,

May I ask what is the theoritical basis in calculating the strength, stiffness and ductility of a retrofitted member i.e. beam, column or wall using concrete jacket implemented in Seismobuild or Seismostruct. Any code or publication?

Re: Code-based Spectra for ASCE 41-17

Are you sure? Did you check the coordinates, specifically the y-intercept of the generated spectrum? Under Seismic Action Tab, select Other Spectral Shapes > Other Codes > ASCE 41-17 Input Damping = 5, Site Class = C and use SXS = 1.440, SX1 = 1.105. The following coordinates are generated: Period ...

Re: Difference Between Seismosignal and Seismosignal 3D

SeismoSignal3D will produce directional spectra, as you have noted. SeismoSignal3D does not have the capability of producing either (a) response history analyses for SDOF systems found in SeismoSignal or (b) inelastic spectra found in SeismoSignal. I have found both programs to be extremely useful ...

150% of Target Displacement

The ASCE 41 code requires that the analysis should be carried out at least 150% of the target displacement for the reason that the seismic hazard selected may be exceeded in the actual eathquake event and the structure may experience some strength and stiiffness degradation which may result in dynam...

Difference Between Seismosignal and Seismosignal 3D

Can you possibly enumerate in Details what are the differences between these 2 programs it seems to me that 3D has the bidirectional acceleration response plot or the orbital plot that is not included in the basic Seismosignal.

Pushover Curve Graph with Degradation

Is it possible to show the pushover curve in Seismobuild showing the pushover curve with post peak stiffness and strength degradation. We would like see the overall behaviour of the system if the target seismic hazard is exceeded. This is kind of similar to the ASCE 41 idealized Force-Displacement c...

Seismic Hazard Output not Matching

Good Day Technical Support, I was reviewing the output from the pdf report and I noticed that the graphical representation of the seismic hazard level does not match with the tabulated report. The tabulated report is incorrect for the Collapse Prevention Hazard Level. see images below https://www.dr...

Re: Higher Mode Effect

A follow up question which is related to the higher mode effect, ASCE 41 states that higher mode effect is significant and should not be ignored if the story shear of the first modal response spectrum at 90% mass participation exceeds by 130% than the story shear of the MRSA considering the first mo...
