Dear all,
I would like to apply a pre-deformation to the system to simulate pre-damage. For example, there is already an interstory drift or a maximum roof drift of 1% and then I do the pushover analysis. How is this possible?
Thanks and kind regards,
Julia

Re: Predeformation of system
You can do this in two ways:
1) by applying initial deformation loads at specific nodes of the model.
2) by applying different phases in the pushover analysis.

Re: Predeformation of system
Thanks for the answer.
Why is it not possible to apply a permanent displacement to a node and an incremental load that is then increased?
Thank you for the answer.

Re: Predeformation of system
By controlling the initial displacement of a degree of freedom essentially the program applies boundary conditions in this DOF (similarly to a typical support, where the initial deformation is zero). Because of this it is not possible to apply additional forces on this DOF.
