Regarding response spectrum from ground motion record

Post by mangesh30 »

Dear all,
I am doing force based adaptive pushover analysis of RC building. In that spectral amplification part I am using koyna eq. ground motion (1967 6.5 magnitude) so based on this ground motion how to create acceleration response spectrum??? Does it gives automatic calculation of accl. response spectra graph ?? or Is there a need to do something mathematical calculation?? Please explain this concept.

Thanks & Regards

Dear mangesh30,

In Spectral Amplification area of the Adaptive Pushover Parameters, when you select the Given Accelerogram Option and you insert the ground motions, the response spectrum is automatically calculated.

As it is written in SeismoSteuct's USer MAnual: "Given Accelerogram. The user introduces an accelerogram time-history and defines the desired level of viscous damping used by the program to automatically compute an acceleration (when force-based scaling is used) or displacement (when displacement or drift-based scaling is employed) response spectrum (assumed constant throughout the analysis). Note that by default, the resulting response spectrum, as opposed to the accelerogram, is shown to the user. The latter, however, can be visualised through the Accelerogram button."
