Hi,
I'm working on some comparative studies for pushover and dynamic time history analysis. I found one thing strange: when I have a short period structure (period around 0.2s), the pushover analysis shows very elastic behaviour with very small target displacement (less than 10mm). However, when I try the time history analysis with the same structure, it shows high ductility with large displacement (more than 100mm). I do not have the same observation for structure with a higher period. So I want to ask if this observation is expected for the short period structure?
Thank you for your help!
Best Regards,
Aslinn

Re: Short period structure
Although this is not an issue related to the use of the programs, note that the dynamic excitation of a building depends strongly on the frequency content of the record. Hence an accelerogram with high frequency content is expected to be more demanding and damaging to lower short-period structures.
