Axial stress on the beams.

Post by MatCiar »

Good evening,

in a modeling of fiber elements with seismostruct and applying a time history analysis with accelerogram in the x direction, it exits axial stress on the beams.

I inserted a very rigid axially rod to make that effort and decrease stiffness in the nod part in the horizontal direction.

Without the rigid axle, how can I solve the axial stress on the beams?

I could attach the model for a more complete answer.

Best regards.

Hello MatCiar,
Please describe better your model. Many parts of your post are vague and incomplete (e.g. it is not clear how you load the beam, or what is the effect of the rigid axially rod in your beam). When you say that "it exits axial stress on the beams", you mean that there is axial force in the beams? This is not unexpected, if the beam is in the loading direction (it is not clear in which direction the lies to, the loaded x direction or the y direction).
