Subdivided RC frame-wrong results

Post by MarTgr88 »

Hi,

i have modeled a simple case of static pushover analysis of RC frame. I have made two models:

1. With 3 elements (two columns and one beam)

2. I have used command to subdivide these elements on 5 parts each.

First, this command has a bug. It gives a wrong name to some nodes and thus connects wrong subdivided parts. Luckily this is easy to correct by changing the name of the nodes and element connectivity.

The bigger problem is that the results are not the same when I compare these 2 models. Model no2 crashes at around half of the load.

I hope you can help me! Probably it is some mistake of mine.

Regards

P.S. I have used infrmFB element types for the frame. I have assigned reinforcement from the design. I have used the same section in all parts.

There is no point in using FB elements and subdivide your member in 5 segments. You could either use one infrmFB or infrmFBPH element per member, or 4-5 infrmDB elements per member. The results in these 3 cases should be comparable.
