Hi Rajen,

First these issues should be better discussed with your supervisor. We cannot really tell which type of modelling you would want to follow. Moreover, note that this is a forum for the use of the program, rather than a general support forum for earthquake engineering issues.

1) The failure modes that have strength degradation are the brittle failure modes, e.g. shear
2) You need to define a shear capacity performance criteria or code-based check. Read the manual for details
3) In order to model a PH at the middle of the column you need to subdivide the column in 2 elements, or use the force-based element infrmFB

Thanks a lot for your informative suggestions. I hope I would be able to overcome the difficulties with these suggestions.
