Fy in Bilinear Takeda Model

Post by usamauet8 »

Hello,
I am a little confused with Fy parameter in Bi linear Takeda model. I am using it in rotational spring installed at a beam column joint panel to account for the bar slip effect. My supervisor suggests that My obtained from beam analysis should be used in determining Fy, and Fy=0.5*My. I have read papers mentioned in Seismostruct regarding this model as well but it has not helped me understand how to determine Fy. Please point me in the right direction
regards

If used with a rotational DOF of the spring, indeed the Takeda curve can be used to simulate the moment-rotation relationship at the end of the beams. However, we do not know why your supervisor suggested that Fy=0.5*My, this is something better discussed with him.
