Links

Post by mwaud »

Hi there,
I have been trying to model a embedded basement via using the link element modelled half up the basement. To that extent I have created and extra node in the location of the link such that n1 and n2 coincide. I then have create n3 and n4 nodes, with n3 effectivity in the wall of the basement, whilst n4 was outside the basement area effectively in the soil anchoring n1. The link forms in element connectivity fine but when I run the model seismostruct says that the nodes n3 and n4 aren't connected to anything in element connectivity, although they are part of the link...
How can I address this problem to ensure that I run the programme with the necessary link?
many thanks,
Max

If nodes n3 and n4 are used only to define link orientation and not otherwise connected to other structural elements, then specifying these nodes to be "non-structural" in the nodal input tab should do the trick.
