Hello,
I am trying to identify local damages in a RC structure's components using "performance criterias" where the scale must be from zero (no damage) to unit (collapse)
Im facing difficulties in the definition of each damage state, since there is no clear information about the definition of limits values
According to the software manual, damage may be assessed using performance criterias such:
Cracking of structural elements [typical value: +0.0001]
Spalling of cover concrete [typical value: -0.002]
Crushing of core concrete [typical value: -0.006]
how can I detetmine the initial values and the final values of each damage state ? any proposition and/or references whould be very greatful,
Best regards,
damages identification in RC structure's components

Re: damages identification in RC structure's components
The strain values that correspond to each limit state are not constant and depend on several parameters, such as the concrete strength, the reinforcement strength and detailing, the confinement etc. After you calculate the exact strain limits, you may use them to set up your performance criteria. Re: damages identification in RC structure's components
Thank you for the clarification
I must ask, how should I calculate the exact strain limits ? any references whould be very helpful,
I saw the video which is helpful but I didn't unserstand how did you determine the strain limits
Kind regards,

Re: damages identification in RC structure's components
There are several expressions for the calculation of the strain limits, and we cannot provide specific references.
This is something that you should better discuss with your supervisor.
