Rigid links

Post by thaer.f.zy »

Hi everyone.
Im trying to observe the behaviour of rc building with and without a rigid link to connect a core rc walls ,but i didn't get big difference between them

The picture shows that :

And this is the model

Dear thaer.f.zy,

The reason why you don't get the difference that you might expected is due to the assigned values in the rigid element. By assigning larger values in the rigid element's properties you will get wider difference between the two models (with and without rigid elements).

dear Zoi;

i m wondering what is the best value to simulate the rigid links in such case, and is it appropriate to a connect those links
in a random ordination.on the other hand is it more accurate to use the rigid
links constraints recently available in seismostruct 7.

Dear zthaer,

Rigid link constraints may be used in this case. You may run a sensitivity study, increasing the value of the penalty function exponent.
I am not sure that I can understand the meaning of random ordination.
