Displacement load

Post by zhwang »

To whom it may concern,

My experimental bare steel frame is shown like this:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/icn8wuf3f04hr ... e.jpg?dl=0

For the experiment, the displacement load was applied at the top corner of the frame (N_4), and the linear variable displacement transducer was placed at the other side of top corner of the frame (N_3) to record the displacement of hysteretic curves. For the model, the hysteretic curves of N-4 and N_3 are quite different, should I compare the experimental hysteretic results with hysteretic curves of N_4 or N_3?

Thanks very much.

I may be missing something, but it seems that you should compare the same node in the model as the physical location where the displacement history was actually recorded. Best of luck. I know you have had a lot of difficulty with this model and I encourage you to keep at it.

Dear huffte,

Thank you very much for your kind help and encourage. I will keep at it and hope to get a correct model at the end.
